    Changes to weapons and families

    Changes to weapons and families

Over the past few days the staff at United States Roleplay has introduced a new mechanic to the weapons dynamic in the server. The arms dealer job has been modified to be more dependent on families. Here's a thread explaining what we exactly did and why we chose to do so.

    1. Families
Through all the iterations of the script this server uses, the families were given the least attention unfortunately. The staff has discussed on how we could bring more interaction and roleplaying possibilities to the families in the server. Families in general haven't been as fun as they used to because the lack of rivalry.

Families, Gold VIP+ and certain groups are now the only ones that can perform material runs by using /getmats.

    2. Gun Control
Weapons have always been pretty easy to obtain, and by doing so the server gets flooded with rulebreakers mowing people with their guns. By making families the main source of guns, players that desire guns are pretty much forced to interact with families, thus giving families more power. (unless they obtain a weapon license..)

    3. Custom Damages
Everyone has always been using the same weapons over and over again, mainly the Desert Eagle.
By making it harder to obtain guns individually we can introduce certain buffs/debuffs for weapons and set our own damages for every single weapon. Right now we're still deciding on which guns should get a buff/debuff, you will be made aware of our decisions once we've decided.

    4. Materials
You may wonder what happens to materials now? By making materials a little bit harder to obtain, we allow these to still be traded from player to player, regardless of your affilitations. Lets say a family does not want to sell guns specifically, but would like to hoard materials in family safes and sell these to other players or families instead? No problem. Materials can still be owned, traded, robbed or scammed by majority of the players in the server. It is only families, GVIP+ and certain groups that can CRAFT weapons and perform material runs.

    SUM: Roleplay
By introducing all these changes we try to get more of a families dynamic in the server instead of a faction-oriented server. Families now possess most of the power when it comes to the illegal weapons market. If you have any further suggestions on this system, whether it's improvements or optimizations, please let us know in the form of a game suggestion.

    TLDR? Here's a shorter summary;
    • Materials are still tradeable by everyone. (/sellmats, /give [id] materials [amount])
    • Material runs can now only be done by any family member, Gold VIP+ and certain groups. (/getmats)
    • R2+ in families are the only ones that can CRAFT weapons. (/sellgun)
    • Arms dealer job is still necessary for these. Job skill decides what weapons you may craft. (/sellgun, /jobhelp)

    Thank you for understanding.

In addition to family changes - family members now receive an extra 1k per paycheck, depending on the family level. You can level up your family by simply playing - having 5 members online gives you 5 XP, there are 8 family levels in total so once you reach the final level, every member will gain an extra 8k per paycheck.
